Through the Mentor Scholarship Programme, three young people supported by Heritage Gardens have been offered places at university – a milestone that once felt out of reach for them and their families.
Three Heritage Gardens scholars secure university admission
The Mentor Scholarship Programme provides financial support, mentoring and wellbeing check-ins for young people who have the talent and determination to pursue further education but face significant financial barriers.
This year, three scholars – Patricia, David and Mariam – have been offered places to study Law, Engineering and Education at Nigerian universities.
“I never imagined I would see my name on an admission list”
Patricia who will study Law, shared: “When my father died, I thought my education would end after secondary school. Heritage Gardens not only helped with fees, they kept checking on how I was coping. I never imagined I would see my name on an admission list.”
Alongside financial support, each scholar is matched with a mentor who helps them navigate academic demands, life skills and the emotional transition to university.
Scholarships that care about the whole person
The programme is designed with mental health in mind. Regular check-ins, group sessions and access to counselling mean that scholars have somewhere to turn when things feel overwhelming.
“We want our scholars not only to get into university, but to thrive there,” explains a member of the Heritage Gardens team. “That means supporting their wellbeing as well as their grades.”
We are proud of every young person in the programme and grateful to the donors and partners who make these journeys possible.
